BALLYMENA United staged a remarkable recovery to claw back a three goal deficit at The Showgrounds.

Mark Miskimmin fired DC in front after eight minutes when he made the most of a loose ball after Ciaran Gargan had slipped in front of goal.

And Ryan Deans made it 2-0 just a couple of minutes later as the visitors threatened to

United went to work at reducing the deficit almost straightaway with Gary Thompson clipping an effort wide before visiting 'keeper John Connolly was forced to tip over a Davy Munster header from a Tony Kane corner to the back post.

But Celtic extended their lead three minutes from the break through Sean Cleary who managed to get a foot to a ball whipped into the area.

The Sky Blues pulled one back just before the break when Allan Jenkins converted from the spot after Thompson had been brought down by Connolly.

They then cut Celtic's lead back to a single goal on the hour through a Johnny Taylor header after a corner was floated over.

The comeback was almost complete not long after only for Thompson to somehow head over in front of an open goal.

Remarkably, they did equalise on 78 minutes when, following a goalmouth scramble, Jamie Davidson got the final touch to force the ball over the line.
