Glenavon have moved quickly in the transfer window to snap up highly rated midfielder Niall Grace from Institute on a three year deal.

25-year-old Grace, was an integral part of the Institute side which won the Bluefin Sport Championship last season and promotion back to the Danske Bank Premiership, his form also won him a place in the Bluefin Sport Championship Team of the Year at the NI Football Awards last week.

The midfielder spent three seasons at Institute since joining from Trojans in January 2016, scoring 10 goals in 26 league appearances for the North West side last season.

Speaking to the Official Glenavon website, Niall said “Once I got the call from Gary and he expressed his interest I was sold then and I came up and had a look about and had a good chat with him and I was well on board. To play in Europe will be some experience and one that other players won’t get so that was definitely part of the pull for Glenavon but with Glenavon challenging for trophies year in and year out I want to be a part of that.”

It’s been one in and one out at Mourneview Park this summer as preparations begin for the Europa League qualification campaign – as talented teenager Bobby Burns last week sealed a move to Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premiership.
