GLENTORAN moved into fourth spot following victory in this seven goal thriller with Ballymena United at The Showgrounds.

The Sky Blues started brightly with Tony Kane seeing an effort saved by Elliott Morris in the opening minute while Allan Jenkins came close shortly after.

Alan Teggart opened the scoring for United on 23 minutes with a near post finish after being set up by David Cushley.

And it might have been 2-0 nine minutes from the break when Jenkins smashed a shot off the underside of the bar.

But, on 38 minutes, Jordan Stewart levelled for the Glens after he seized on a loose ball on the edge of the area to fire a low shot past the motionless Stuart Addis into the bottom corner.

Eddie Patterson's side moved in front four minutes into the second half when Jim O'Hanlon was allowed to run unhindered through the defence to get on the end of a Marcus Kane flick.

Then, three minutes after that, Kane got on the scoresheet himself with a superb 25-yard curling effort around Addis into the top corner.

United pulled a goal back on 65 minutes when Gary Liggett found himself unmarked from a Teggart cross to head home.

The Glens restored their two-goal cushion a couple of minutes later, though, when Stewart got on the end of a Jimmy Callacher ball to outpace the defence and finish calmly.

Ballymena tried to salvage something from the game but they could only find the net once more, three minutes into stoppage time, when Teggart turned home a Michael McLellan cross.
