New Glentoran boss Gary Smyth guided his side to a second consecutive win with victory over Newry City at The Oval.
Chris Gallagher came closest to breaking the deadlock with around a quarter-of-an-hour gone when his well struck free-kick just clipped the woodwork on its way over.
Robbie McDaid then created an opportunity when he cut in from the right but his fierce cross-shot was parried by Newry keeper Andy Coleman just as Curtis Allen looked poised to pounce.
Then, not long after that, McDaid flashed a header towards goal from a Gallagher corner but the ball was cleared off the line through a crowded goalmouth.
However, against the run of play, Newry moved in front with seven minutes of the first half remaining when Jimmy Walker fired a stunning half-volley past Elliott Morris into the top corner.
Allen might have responded quickly for the Glens with a low snap shot which initially appeared to squirm below Coleman before going the wrong side of the upright.
Glentoran did level on 73 minutes, however, when Darren Murray slotted home at the back post after getting on the end of a Joe Crowe cross.
John Herron then came close to giving Glentoran the lead with an acrobatic bicycle kick which flashed just over the crossbar.
But Glentoran's winner came with four minutes when McDaid sent the ball across the face of goal before Newry defender Darren King inadvertently knocked it into his own net.
