GLENS MOVE INTO COMFORT ZONE

GLENTORAN raced into an early lead to ultimately claim a comfortable victory over Donegal Celtic at The Oval.

The Glens seized the advantage on eight minutes. Jim O'Hanlon was brought down as he made his way into the penalty area with Jay Magee converting the subsequent spot-kick low to the right of 'keeper Niall Murphy.

Andrew Waterworth doubled Glentoran's lead on 12 minutes after he got behind the DC defence to meet a long ball forward and lob it over the advancing Murphy.

But the visitors reduced the deficit two minutes from the break after Shane Dolan created an opening for Mark Miskimmin to take the ball past the Glens rearguard and beyond Elliott Morris.

Jim O'Hanlon restored Glentoran's two-goal cushion on 57 minutes with a back post header after Stephen Carson had crafted over a cross from the left.
