STEPHEN Carson grabbed an early advantage for the Glens when, after three minutes, he collected a Gary Hamilton ball to round 'keeper Chris Keenan and slot home from ten yards.

Richard Gibson added a second for the Glens on six minutes with a far post finish after connecting with a low free-kick played across the area.

It got even worse for the visitors on nine minutes after Jason Hill embarked on a solo run down the left to take the ball past one defender and finishing with a low shot under Keenan.

And the scoring continued on 19 minutes when Gibson grabbed his second of the game after a tremendous left-foot free-kick from the edge of the area into the top right hand corner.

Amazingly, it was 5-0 on 25 minutes following a David Howland chip over the defence allowing Hamilton to volley into the net from six yards out.

Then, on 31 minutes, Jimmy Callacher made it six with a back post header from a Carson left sided cross.

Glentoran's perfect afternoon was soured a little on 65 minutes when Jamie McGovern was sent-off by referee Mervyn Smyth after collecting a second booking for a foul on Paul Owens.

Carrick did grab a late consolation with ten minutes remaining through substitute Aaron Harmon's finish from the left edge of the area.
