Joe Gormley helped himself to yet another hat-trick as the Reds swept to a four goal defeat of Institute at Solitude.

The Reds needed just four minutes to open the scoring when Jay Donnelly, from the right side of the area, smashed the ball into the top left hand corner of the goal.

They might have doubled their advantage just after the quarter-of-an-hour mark through Gormley after he got in behind the defence only to rifled an effort against the crossbar.

David McDaid and Martin Donnelly might have doubled Cliftonville's advantage but they found 'Stute 'keeper Martin Gallagher in fine form.

Cormac Burke twice came close for the visitors with long lange efforts but, on the stroke of half-time, Gormley almost made it 2-0 only to strike the woodwork for the second time.

However, Gormley wasn't to be denied on 54 minutes when he fired into the bottom left corner after McDaid had threaded a ball through the defence.

And Gormley made it 3-0 on the hour, this time with a sublime finish down the right before, seven minutes after that, he claimed his hat-trick after he poked the ball over the line from a Tomas Cosgrove cross.
