CRUSADERS had to settle for a point from this visit of Dungannon Swifts to Seaview in a game they will feel they should have comfortably wrapped up.

The Crues might have been out of sight within a quarter-of-an-hour. Timmy Adamson found himself clear on goal within the opening seconds only to send the ball over while, on eight minutes, Jordan Owens saw a volley well saved by 'keeper Gareth Buchanan. Then, a little later, Owens failed to make the most of an opportunity which presented itself from a Gary McCutcheon free-kick to the back post.

The Swifts came closest in the first half whe Ryan Harpur tested Sean O'Neill with a well taken 30-yard free-kick.

The deadlock was broken nine minutes into the second half when, from a long Colin Coates ball, Adamson nodded down for McCutcheon to finish past Buchanan aided by a deflection off Dermot McCaffrey.

But the visitors levelled on 67 minutes when Harpur got his head to a Cameron Grieve cross.

Crusaders pushed to regain the lead through Paul Heatley and then Eamonn McAllister but they were almost stung by a second Swifts goal in the closing minutes after McCaffrey skimmed an upright from a Harpur corner.
