Linfield left it late to claim the points from this visit to Milltown.

Daniel Hughes fired Warrenpoint into the lead after just 13 minutes after being the offside trap to get onto the end of a Stephen Hughes cross from the right.

If the visiting fans expected some sort of response from Linfield they were disappointed as 'Point continued to hold the upper hand for the remainder of the first half with Stephen Hughes going close on 33 minutes after being played through by Ruairi Devlin only to be thwarted by Jamie Mulgrew's goalline clearance.

Warren Feeney's side looked a different proposition after the break, coming close to levelling just after the hour mark when Michael Carvill went close from the edge of the area.

The equaliser arrived on 71 minutes after Aaron Burns laid off a reverse pass for Andy Waterworth to smash past Johnny Parr.

And Warrenpoint's hearts were broken a minute from time when, from a Carvill cross, Mark Haughey nipped in to head home Linfield's winner.
