Warrenpoint Town midfielder Sean Mackle has called on his team-mates to stop leaking goals after surrendering a first minute lead against Ballymena United on Saturday.

"We obviously got off to a good start against Ballymena United but never really kicked on, it's disappointing from our point of view and ultimately a disappointing day all round".

29-year-old Mackle, who joined the border club in May after eight seasons with Portadown is enjoying life at the newly promoted club; "It's been really good so far and it’s helped that there’s been some familiar faces in Matthew [Tipton] and [David] Miskelly.

"Performances have been mostly good, we just need to hopefully get some results and start moving up the table. We are more than capable – we have players to cause teams problems but we just need to stop leaking goals at the back!"

With only three points from their first six Danske Bank Premiership games, the former Hearts and Dundalk midfielder is wary of the challenge their next opponents Dungannon Swifts will pose on Saturday.

"Dungannon Swifts is a completely different game to the Ballymena one, they play a lot more football so we’ll need to match them and be tight at the back whilst taking our chances."
