Curtis Allen’s landmark double set Glentoran on their way to a comfortable four goal victory over Ards in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Striker Curtis Allen was alert early on when he pounced on a mistake from visiting defender David Elebert to nip in and slide the ball under goalkeeper Sam Johnston for his 100th goal for Glentoran.

Just before the break, the home side doubled their lead when Ross Redman’s driving run found Robbie McDaid in space and the striker coolly dispatched a low drive into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

Glentoran put the game to bed with just under an hour played as Curtis Allen turned provider, heading down a long throw into the path of captain Marcus Kane - who placed a superb left footed volley out of the reach of the outstretched Johnston for number three.

Allen doubled his tally for the afternoon on 71 minutes, latching onto a through ball and placing the ball home at the near post for his team’s fourth goal without reply.

The only blot on the Glentoran copybook was the straight red card shown by referee Steven Gregg for substitute John McGuigan for an off the ball altercation with Ards defender Craig McClean.
