Two Gary Liggett first half goals helped Dungannon Swifts to an important victory over bottom of the table Institute at the Riverside Stadium.

Liggett handed the Swifts the early advantage after 17 minutes when he connected with Matt Hazley's corner to send a bullet like header past Saul Deeney from six yards.

And he made it 2-0 after half-an-hour with a smashing drive from the edge of the area in off the underside of the bar.

However, 'Stute reduced the deficit 11 minutes after the break after Robbie Hume won the ball, took it past defender Douglas Wilson and slotted it past Andy Coleman with a low shot at the near post.

Paul Kee's side pushed on after this in search of the equaliser with substitute Michael McCrudden sending one shot narrowly wide before seeing another effort saved by Coleman while Graham Crown turned a header off the underside of the bar.

However, it was a case of too little, too late for 'Stute who couldn't find a way back into the game at the end.
