LINFIELD stretched their lead at the top of the table to six points with this comfortable defeat of Warrenpoint Town at Windsor Park.

The Blues started brightly with Matt Tipton's back post volley from point blank range being well saved by Town 'keeper Johnny Parr while Kyle McVey blasted over from six yards when well placed as well as turning a header onto the right post.

But the league leaders did find a way through on 30 minutes when Andrew Waterworth got the final touch after a Michael Carvill corner was headed down by McKey for Philip Lowry to knock towards goal.

Linfield doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time when a Waterworth ball into the box was turned into his own net by Stephen Moan.

It was 3-0 four minutes after the break after Michael Gault cut the ball back from touch for Tipton to nod past Parr.

And Tipton added a fourth seven minutes later with a back post finish after Carvill beat the offside trap to square the ball.

Warrenpoint pulled one back on 61 minutes courtesy of a Stephen Hughes penalty conceded by Michael Gault but within a couple of minutes Waterworth cut in from the left to make it 5-1 to the rampant Blues.
