LURGAN BLUES MOVE IN ON SUMMIT

style="line-height: 1.3em;">

GLENAVON moved to within a point of the top of the table following this defeat of Ards at Clandeboye Park.

David Rainey fired the Lurgan Blues in front as early as the fifth minute with a volley from distance beyond the reach of Graeme McKibbin.

Ards suffered a further blow on 28 minutes when Craig McMillen was dismissed by referee Ross Dunlop following an incident with Rainey.

Glenavon had the ball in the net again a few minutes later from a long Gareth McKeown throw-in but this was disallowed for an infringement on the Ards 'keeper.

But Niall Currie's side levelled seven minutes into the second half when Willie Faulkner linked up with Scott Davidson to release Mark McClelland to fire past John Connolly from just outside the six-yard box.

The visitors made sure of the points on 73 minutes when Kris Lindsay knocked on another McKeown throw-in for Kyle Neill to turn home at the back post.
