MURRAY HAT-TRICK SETS PORTS ON COURSE FOR COMFORTABLE WIN

DARREN Murray helped himself to a hat-trick as Portadown thumped Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.

The Ports raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes.

Gary Twigg grabbed the first on 17 minutes with a low shot past Gareth Buchanan from the left side of the area.

Then, a minute later, Murray added a second after the Swifts 'keeper dropped a Kevin Braniff cross at his feet.

Murray then made it 3-0 just after the half-hour mark when he connected with a Chris Casement corner to nod the ball home from within a crowded penalty area.

Portadown extended their lead less than a minute into the second half after Braniff delivered a cross from the left for Tim Mouncey to rise highest to nod into the net.

Darren Boyce might have reduced the deficit a little when he hit the woodwork but, with five minutes remaining, Murray made it 5-0 when he finished off a Neill McCafferty pass.
