NATHAN MAKES HIS MARK AS CHAMPIONS MARCH ON

LINFIELD new boy Nathan Hanley marked his debut for the defending champions in style with the opening goal in their defeat of Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.

The former Ballymena United man found the net after just five minutes to set the Blues on their way to a comprehensive four-goal victory.

Crusaders moved into second spot thanks to a 75th minute Colin Coates penalty which helped them record a 3-2 win over Newry City at The Showgrounds.

The Crues had played most of the game without 'keeper Chris Keenan after he was knocked unconscious in the latter part of the first half.

Glentoran slipped further behind Linfield in third spot after dropping two points at home to Glenavon when Mark Miskimmin scored an injury time penalty.

Cliftonville had to settle for a share of the spoils from Ballymena United's visit to Solitude.

Goals either side of the break from Ciaran Caldwell and Mark Holland had put the Reds into a commanding lead but they were cancelled out by Eamonn Murray and Michael Smith.

Elsewhere, Matthew Tipton and Keith O'Hara struck for Portadown as they defeated basement boys Donegal Celtic.
