PATTON DUNGANNON BOUND

Dungannon Swifts have announced the transfer of midfielder Mark Patton from Glenavon.

Patton will be fondly remembered by the Lurgan Blues for scoring the winner in the 2014 Irish Cup Final against Ballymena United.

The 28-year-old began his career with Lisburn Distillery before a season with Portadown in 2012, he spent four and a half years at Mourneview Park after signing in July 2013.

The midfielder was transfer-listed at his own request last month, citing a desire to play regular first-team football.

It’s the first bit of business for Dungannon Swifts boss Rodney McAree, whilst it’s now one in and one out at Mourneview Park following Stephen Murray’s arrival from Warrenpoint Town on New Year’s Day.

Next up for Dungannon Swifts in the Danske Bank Premiership is the visit of title chasing Coleraine at Stangmore Park on Saturday 13 January (kick-off 3pm)
