KEITH O'Hara might have broken the deadlock after seven minutes with a header from a Jamie Tomelty corner which clipped the outside of the post.

But just four minutes at the other end Colin Coates fired the visitors in front with a spot-kick drilled straight down the middle awarded for a Ross Redman handball.

However, Shane McCabe levelled for Portadown on 24 minutes with a low shot into the bottom corner after Conor McCloskey touched on a Kevin Braniff ball from the left.

The Crues regained their advantage early in the second half after Declan Caddell, a half-time substitute, got on the end of a Michael Halliday header after the former Glentoran man had successfully chased a loose ball.

They extended the lead further still with 20 minutes remaining after Chris Morrow made the most of some slack defending to drilled a shot under David Miskelly.

And it was almost 4-1 on 87 minutes after Jordan Owens glanced a header from a long throw-in against a post.
