PORTS AND SKY BLUES SHARE SHAMROCK SPOILS

IN THE end Portadown and Ballymena United shared the goals and the points at Shamrock Park despite both enjoying spells in front.

The visitors raced into the lead as early as the third minute when Mark Surgenor finished from close range after David Miskelly could only parry the ball following good work down the flank from Gavin Taggart.

But Portadown levelled 11 minutes later after Michael McLellan flicked on a Ross Redman corner for Darren Murray to prod the ball home.

Ross Black might have restored Ballymena's advantage with a long-range effort which forced Miskelly into a superb save.

Then, on 34 minutes, Murray struck again to edge Ronnie McFall's side in front after Brian Gartland had flicked on a long ball into the box.

And Gartland almost made it 3-1 just before the break when he flashed a header over.

However, United grabbed their second on 67 minutes after Chris Ramsey upended Ally Teggart to conceded a penalty with Teggart duly dusting himself down to send Miskelly the wrong way.
