The Danske Bank Premiership returns to BBC Two NI in a huge top of the table clash between Ballymena United and Glenavon at the Showgrounds.

It is the second of the live television broadcasts on BBC Two as part of the new deal for Friday night football, following in the success of Crusaders dramatic win against Cliftonville last month.

Glenavon go into the game having found two late goals against Newry City last Saturday which kept them top of the Danske Bank Premiership. Inspired by the mercurial Mark Sykes, Gary Hamilton’s side have won their last seven league games in succession.

David Jeffrey masterminded last weekend’s 3-0 win over Crusaders which took United up to third in the table. In a hectic October schedule, that result marked the sixth win from seven unbeaten games for the Sky Blues.

Recent meetings

If there’s one thing this game guarantees, it’s goals! Glenavon have the advantage of their 4-0 win over 10-man Ballymena United back in August. The Lurgan Blues edged the meetings between the sides last season with two wins from the four games, but last time out at the Showgrounds it was the Sky Blues who came out on top – winning 3-1 at the Showgrounds with goals from Kevin Braniff, Cathair Friel and Kyle Owens.

Current season form

The two sides have impressed many as Glenavon go into this game leading the Danske Bank Premiership and Ballymena United have risen to third, despite playing their first nine games of the season away from home! Stephen Murray has proven himself one of the key marksmen in the division, with nine goals to his name this season.

The man in the middle tonight will be Andrew Davey, assisted by Stephen Donaldson and Adrian Sobieski with Shane Andrews as fourth official. Admission

No tickets are required, this game is pay at the gate only with admission prices set at £11 for adults and £8 concessions.

Match coverage hosted by Mark Sidebottom starts on BBC Two Northern Ireland from 7.30pm. The match is also available from the BBC Sport Website, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport App.
