Cliftonville made it eight home wins in a row with an important victory over Glenavon to move back into fourth spot.

Rory Donnelly opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute when he ran onto an intelligent ball over the top from Levi Ives to fire between Johnny Tuffey's legs from six yards.

Glenavon levelled just after the half-hour mark in perhaps fortunate circumstances when Conor McCloskey's shot was deflected into his own net off Cliftonville's Aaron Donnelly.

The visitors then moved in front a couple of minutes into the second half after Andrew Mitchell guided Andy Hall's cross past Brian Neeson from close range.

But Stephen Garrett equalised for the Reds moments before the hour with a deft header after Ryan Catney had found him with a cross from the right.

Two goals in five minutes later in the game then made sure Cliftonville claimed the points.

Rory Donnelly doubled his tally on 78 minutes with a tap-in after Conor McDonald's initial effort was parried by Tuffey.

McDonald then completed the scoring after being found by a great ball from Ryan Curran.
