PORTADOWN remain in third spot following this comfortable defeat of Warrenpoint Town at Shamrock Park.

Chris Ramsey edged the Ports in front after eight minutes with a close range header from a Darren Murray cross.

And it was 2-0 on 18 minutes when Gary Twigg knocked home the loose ball after Joshua Barton saw a cross pushed out by Town 'keeper Jonathan Parr.

A few minutes prior to that Warrenpoint might have levelled only for Ports 'keeper David Miskelly to save a Stephen Hughes spot-kick and Padraig Smith's follow-up.

Twigg then doubled his tally after half-an-hour with a finish from a Sean Mackle low cross.

With the game more or less over as a contest, Portadown eased up a little in the second half and were almost punished when Daniel Hughes tested Miskelly who produced a block with his feet to keep his clean sheet intact.

And Darren King also came close for the visitors only to be thwarted by a goalline Emmet Friars clearance.
