Ian Parkhill and John Boyle rise for the ball (Picture: Stephen Hamilton/PressEye.com)

Despite a bright start this pre-Christmas Premiership clash at The Showgrounds ultimately ended in a disappointing scoreless draw.

Ciaran O'Connor might have fired Warrenpoint into the lead early in proceedings only to turn the ball against the back post from a Mark Hughes cross.

O'Connor was caught up in the action again not long after when he was upended in the area but referee Peter McGrath waved away Warrenpoint's penalty protests.

Coleraine's best effort in the scoreless first half was a Neill McCafferty free-kick which sailed wide of the top corner.

The Bannsiders enjoyed lots of possession during the second half but with little end product in front of goal with their most promising move coming after Lyndon Kane and Howard Beverland combined to set up Ian Parkhill but he fired high and wide.

Parkhill had another opportunity with just over a quarter-of-an-hour remaining only to fluff a free header in front of goal.

'Point might have snatched it at the end when a Kane slip let Johnny Breen in but he squandered the chance.
