SIX GOALS SHARED IN STANGMORE THRILLER

DUNGANNON Swifts had to settle for a point after squandering a two-goal lead in this thriller at Stangmore Park.

The Swifts seized the advantage after 14 minutes when Winkie Murphy turned a corner past his own 'keeper whilst attempting to clear.

Then, after half-an-hour, Richard Copeland made it 2-0 with a close range near post header from a Jamie Douglas inswinging corner.

But Glenavon came storming back with two goals in three minutes.

On 60 minutes Murphy redeemed himself with a free header from Gareth McKeown's long throw-in.

Then, in the 63rd minute, Guy Bates levelled following a goalmouth scramble after Murphy had knocked on another McKeown throw.

Remarkably, Glenavon moved in front six minutes later through Mark Patton who had been released by Gary Hamilton to lift the ball over Gareth Buchanan.

Moments earlier Patton had rifled a right-foot shot against an upright.

David Rainey almost extended Glenavon's lead a few minutes after that when, from a Hamilton corner, he turned a shot off the underside of the bar.

The scoring continued with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining after Darren Boyce grabbed Dungannon's third from the spot following a Shane McCabe foul on Ryan Harpur.
