Paudie Smith grabbed Warrenpoint's stoppage time winner (Picture:

A STOPPAGE time Paudie Smith goal earned an on-form Warrenpoint Town the points from this visit to Ferney Park.

The Mallards thought they had moved in front inside the opening ten minutes when Mark Stafford had the ball in the net but his effort was ruled out offside.

But Whitey Anderson's side did take the lead on 14 minutes after David Kee rose highest to nod home a Jason McCartney header.

However, Warrenpoint levelled a minute later through Daniel Hughes after his 35-yard screamer gave Alvin Rouse no chance.

Then, eight minutes later, Barry Gray's side seized the advantage themselves following a Stephen Hughes tap-in.

United got back on level terms on 29 minutes when, from another McCartney corner, Stafford made sure with a header beyond stand-in 'keeper Blaine Hughes.

Remarkably, the Mallards then had a second goal disallowed three minutes after that, again for offside, after Kee had turned on a Stafford header.

United were presented with two great opportunities early in the second half through Stuart Hutchinson and Richard Lecky but on each occasion they found Blaine Hughes equal to the challenge.

Warrenpoint made sure of the points two minutes into stoppage time through substitute Smith with a good finish beyond Rouse.
