Ards have added some firepower to their forward line with the loan signing of Linfield’s Cameron Stewart until the end of the Danske Bank Premiership season.

Stewart joined the Blues in July 2016 from Crusaders and made an immediate impact in his first season firstly winning the Steel and Sons Cup in December before elevation to the first team seen him score in the County Antrim Shield final victory over Crusaders.

Cameron retained his place in the team picking up winner’s medals as Linfield won both the Danske Bank Premiership and the Tennent’s Irish Cup. So far this season he has made 17 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.

Speaking to the official Linfield website, manager David Healy said: “With a couple of strikers signed during the January transfer window, Cameron's first team opportunities may have been more limited in the next few months and so this loan move will aid his development and enable him hopefully, to get more competitive game time at first team level in this league.”

Last week Colin Nixon also unveiled the signing of Luke Kelly from St. Mochtas joining teenage Linfield Swifts duo Reece Neale and Timmy Brown to the Bangor Fuels Arena during this transfer window. Leaving the County Down side so far has been Gary Liggett (Loughgall), Greg Hall (Portadown) and Carl McComb (Dundela).

Next up: Ards welcome Ballymena United to the Bangor Fuels Arena on Saturday in the Danske Bank Premiership (kick-off 3pm)
