STRAIGHTFORWARD WIN PUTS PORTS BACK ON TRACK

PORTADOWN swept to a comfortable two-goal defeat of Warrenpoint Town at Shamrock Park to put their recent slump behind them.

Darren Murray fired the Ports into the lead after five minutes when he got on the end of a Gary Twigg flick to direct the ball past Jonathan Parr.

It might have been 2-0 on 16 minutes when, from a Twigg cross, Murray found himself clear but Parr pulled off a superb save to keep out his header.

Stephen Hughes came closest to levelling for Warrenpoint on 40 minutes only to drag the ball wide when well placed.

But the Ports doubled their advantage ten minutes into the second half after Twigg made the most of a poor Jonathan Cowan clearance to take the ball past a couple of defenders and beyond Parr.
