SUPERSUB LAVERY FIRES SWIFTS INTO FOURTH SPOT

DUNGANNON Swifts inflicted the first defeat of the season upon Coleraine with this single goal victory at Stangmore Park.

Gary Browne came close for the Bannsiders early in proceedings with a free-kick just past an upright from the edge of the area.

The Swifts could point to a blocked Ryan Harpur attempt and Dermot McCaffrey follow-up as perhaps the best of their first half chances.

After the break Shane Jennings twice failed to fire the visitors in front. On 53 minutes he missed the target whilst bearing down on Swifts 'keeper Gareth Buchanan before sending a low 25-yard drive just past an upright on 66 minutes.

However, it fell to Swifts substitute Chris Lavery to break the deadlock seven minutes later after he pounced on a parried David McCullough effort to turn the ball home.

Jennings might have secured a stoppage time point for Oran Kearney's side only to send a header off an upright.
