SWIFTS FIGHT BACK TO EARN A SHARE OF THE SPOILS

DUNGANNON Swifts fought back from two goals down to earn a point from this final game of the season.

Both sides went into the game with the threat of a play-off place looming large but with Lisburn Distillery losing at home to Ballymena United the outcome was, in the end, academic.

Brian McCaul fired Glenavon in front after just four minutes with a low drive into the bottom corner after connecting with a Kyle Neill free-kick.

The Swifts might have levelled on 21 minutes after Glenavon defender Ciaran Doherty was adjudged to have handled a Michael Ward shot but from the resultant penalty Emmett Friars was foiled by 'keeper Andy Coleman who correctly dived to his right.

But the Lurgan Blues doubled their advantage on 68 minutes. Michael McKerr conceded a penalty for a foul on Niall Henderson with McCaul grabbing his second of the game by sending Niall Morgan the wrong way.

However, the Swifts pulled one back within five minutes after a Terry Fitzpatrick shot took a deflection off Jay Magee and over the helpless Coleman.

And they levelled three minutes into stoppage time when Adam McMinn - a late substitution - flicked the ball forward for Friars direct it home.
