DUNGANNON Swifts moved to within a point of Premiership safety with this defeat of Donegal Celtic at Stangmore Park.

Darren Murphy's side just need to avoid defeat in their final game next week against fellow strugglers Glenavon to cement their senior status for another season.

The Swifts seized the early advantage when, after two-and-a-half minute, Thomas Lambe turned the ball into his own net whilst attempting to clear a Stefan Lavery cross.

Then, on 15 minutes, it was 2-0 after a Ryan Harpur free-kick took a wicked deflection on its way past Robert Robinson.

Lambe might have redeemed himself for his earlier error midway through the second half with a curling cross which almost ended up in the net only for Swifts 'keeper Niall Morgan to react quickly to snuff out the danger.

And he came close again soon after with another effort which Morgan managed to save with his fingertips.

But DC did find the net on 73 minutes when Darren Murray converted from the spot following a Michael Funston foul on Sean Cahill.

Celtic's joy was somewhat short lived when, just two minutes later, Stephen McAlorum was dismissed after a challenge on Funston.
