TEGGART SPOT KICK GIVES UNITED THE POINTS

Ballymena United picked up their first away league victory in three months with this defeat of Institute at the Riverside Stadium.

Johnny Hume fired Insitute into the lead as early as the fourth minute when his effort from a Lee Toland corner took a deflection past Stuart Addis.

United responded well, however, with Darren Boyce and David Munster seeing efforts saved by Martin Gallagher while, a little later, Boyce saw another attempt headed off the line by Paddy McLaughlin.

It was perhaps no surprise, therefore, when the visitors did level after Munster pounced from six yards after a Neal Gawley corner wasn't dealt with by Gallagher.

Then, after half-an-hour, United moved in front courtesy of an Alan Teggart penalty kick low into the corner after Johnny Taylor had been upended in the area.

Teggart then might have extended United's advantage on the stroke of half-time only to turn the ball against the inside of the post.

United might added to their lead early in the second half with Gawley firing wide from the edge of the area while Allan Jenkins was denied one-on-one by substitute 'keeper Eugene Ferry.
