HOLDERS Crusaders continued their defence of the IRN-BRU League Cup with this comfortable defeat of Lisburn Distillery.
Paul Heatley fired the Crues in front after 12 minutes when he finished sweetly following good approach play from Declan Caddell and Gary McCutcheon.
Crusaders went onto create a number of further opportunities in the first half with McCutcheon curling an effort just wide while Jordan Owens and Colin Coates threatened with headers.
For the Whites, Jordan Hughes squandered a great opportunity after he won the ball from Joshua Robinson only to skew a shot across the face of goal.
The tie was settled with two goals in as many minutes midway through the second half.
First, on 63 minutes, Heatley teamed up with Timmy Adamson for the latter to slot the ball beyond Billy Brennan.
And Heatley was involved again a couple of minutes later when his header was nodded on by Coates for Declan Caddell to head home.
Hughes did pull one back for the Whites with a ten-yard finish on 84 minutes but by that stage the damage had been done.
