DERGVIEW stunned their Premiership visitors by racing into a two-goal lead after just eleven minutes.
Duwayne McManus kicked things off as early as the third minute when he made the most of an Aaron Stewart mistake to beat Wayne Drummond.
Ryan Campbell then doubled up eight minutes after that to lay the ground for a potential upset.
The visitors pulled a goal back two minutes later through a looping header from Jordan Baker.
And they levelled ten minutes after that after a Baker effort came back off an upright for Allan Jenkins to tap home.
United were given a further boost on 27 minutes when Dergview were reduced to ten men following a Jonathan McCaskie challenge on Baker.
United then moved in front three minutes into the second half through Alan Teggart after connecting with a Gary McCutcheon lay-off.
McCutcheon himself added another six minutes later with a close-range finish before doubling his personal tally sixty seconds later with another tap in, this time from an inch perfect Aaron Stewart cross.
Amazingly, McCutcheon helped himself to a hat-trick with 20 minutes remaining after he chased down a long clearance by 'keeper Wayne Drummond to beat Stefan McCusker once more.
