TWO Andrew McGrory goals helped Glenavon reach the semi-finals of the IRN-BRU League Cup.
McGrory handed Glenavon the lead at the break when, on 11 minutes, he poked the ball home from close range after Kris Lindsay had headed down a Marc Brown cross from the right.
Stephen Carson might have levelled four minutes later only for Andy Coleman to dive to his left to turn the ball around the post while a later Carson effort was cleared off the line by Kyle Neill after it took a deflection to beat the 'keeper.
Guy Bates came close to extending Glenavon's lead eight minutes before half-time after his effort from outside the area came off a Glentoran boot forcing Elliott Morris into an excellent save.
But it was 2-0 just a couple of minutes into the second half when, from a quickly taken free-kick, Bates rushed clear before laying the ball off for McGrory to sidefoot home from close range.
Jimmy Callacher set up a grandstand finish when, with seven minutes remaining, he glanced a header into the roof of the net from a Carson corner but despite a concerted effort in the closing exchanges it wasn't enough to spark a Glentoran revival.
