CLIFTONVILLE booked their place in the IRN-BRU League Cup final with a comfortable three-goal defeat of Glenavon at Solitude.

Barry Johnston might have added the Reds a fourth minute lead only to fire over from 18 yards.

At the other end Cliftonville 'keeper Conor Devlin did well to deny Kris Lindsay after Mark Haughey had nodded on a Mark Turkington corner.

The deadlock was almost broken on 25 minutes when, attempting to clear a Liam Boyce pass, Haughey turned the ball against the base of his own post before the danger was cleared.

Cliftonville came close again on 38 minutes after Glenavon 'keeper Andy Coleman scrambled a Stephen Garrett drive off the line.

However, a minute into first half stoppage time, Garrett went one better after he got on the end of a Joe Gormley ball to direct a shot beyond Coleman.

It was 2-0 on 62 minutes courtesy of a McMullan spot-kick awarded following a Lindsay foul on Boyce.

And the Reds completed the scoring with nine minutes remaining after Boyce headed home at the back post from a left-sided Marty Donnelly free-kick.
