A stoppage time Jude Winchester strike saw Ballymena United squeeze through to the last eight of the BetMcLean League Cup at the expense of HW Welders.
In a fairly quiet first half it was the Championship visitors who came closest to making a breakthrough when, on 20 minutes, David Graham sent a super strike just over from outside the area.
United came into the game more after the break with early chances through Jonathan McMurray and Leroy Millar falling just wide while, just after the hour Winchester was next to miss the target from around 18 yards.
The Welders almost seized the advantage with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining after Ryan Deans connected with a William Armstrong cross only to see his header tipped over by Ross Glendinning.
Ballymena pushed hard as normal time ticked down with Cathair Friel and Adam Lecky being presented with opportunities.
However, a minute into added time, the ball fell for Winchester after a Millar effort had been saved and he made no mistake from the edge of the six-yard box.
