Coleraine have announced the return of defender Howard Beverland for a second spell at The Showgrounds.

Beverland rejoins the Bannsiders after four years with Crusaders, during which time he made 136 appearances and won the Premiership, Irish Cup and County Antrim Shield.

The 30-year-old is back on a three-year contract. He made his first team debut aged 17 under then boss Marty Quinn, going on to captain the club and make in excess of 300 appearances.

Current manager Oran Kearney was pleased to see the Ballymoney man back on the Ballycastle Road.

"He has a huge amount of games behind him and has a winning mentality from a successful time at Crusaders," he told the club website.

"We have always had a good relationship and I’m looking forward to working with him once again. He is a local lad, he is well liked and fits into the profile of the club."
