Sion Swifts striker Kirsty McGuinness netted for Northern Ireland in their romping six-goal victory in the Faroe Islands in their European Championships qualifier.

McGuinness netted a fourth goal for the side before the break as Kenny Shiels’s got their Group C campaign off to the perfect start in Torshavn.

There were five Danske Bank Women’s Premiership starters in total, with defenders Julie Nelson and Ashley Hutton of Crusaders and Linfield respectively, along with Glentoran pair Jackie Burns and Nadene Caldwell starting.

Three more Glens players came on as second-half substitutes with Caragh Hamilton, Samantha Kelly and Joely Andrews - who was making her international debut - all introduced.

A further four Danske Bank Women’s Premiership stars were unused substitutes in the victory.
