Crusaders Strikers will be coached by Jonathan Tuffey for the remainder of the season after Spike Hill left the role.

Tuffey joined Crusaders’ men’s side in a playing capacity from Glenavon in January having been goalkeeper coach at the Strikers prior to the transfer.

The former Northern Ireland international had spent five-and-a-half seasons at Mourneview Park after moving to the Lurgan Blues from Linfield in 2015.

Tuffey has worked closely with Strikers goalkeeper Maddy Harvey-Clifford in recent times, with the teenage shot-stopper earning her first call-up to the Northern Ireland senior international squad.

He is married to Strikers midfielder and club stalwart Danielle McDowell.

Tuffey, who has played eight times for Northern Ireland, began his career at Coventry City and had spells at Partick Thistle and Inverness before joining Linfield in 2013.

Hill has left the Crues sitting third in the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership and in the semi-finals of the Irish Cup and quarter-finals of the County Antrim Cup.

Hill spent over two years in the hotseat at Seaview, having been appointed in early 2019.
