Connaire McGreevy has stepped down as Chairman of Danske Bank Premiership club Warrenpoint Town.

McGreevy has been involved with the club Since 2012 as a key sponsor, contributor, and Director, before taking the reins as Chairman in 2017, presiding over many changes and the growth of the club that is now in a strong position as we look towards the new season.

Upon announcing his departure, Connaire said, "I want to thank the volunteers of the club who are the lifeblood putting in hours of work every week. Too many to mention individually but they know their work is appreciated by all. I also want to thank the rest of the board for their unwavering support and faith in me. Certainly, the last year has been the most difficult and I personally feel that the last two seasons blend into one long one. However, they had support for me and also got on with the tasks that presented themselves as a result of the Global Pandemic.

The loyal supporter base of the club has continued to grow over the last few years. They have been superb and understanding in what has been the most difficult of seasons. They will carry the club forward in great style next season."

Warrenpoint Town FC Vice Chairman, Johnny Bird said, "On behalf of Warrenpoint Town FC, I would like to thank Connaire for everything he has done at the club. His leadership, forward thinking, commitment and vision have been second to none. He has supported the club from every angle. As Chairman, As supporter, As sponsor, As representative, As leader, As advisor. His dedication and hard work have brought us to where we are today. While he is stepping down as Chair, he is still going to represent and sponsor the club and be still part of the set up and again we thank him for this and wish him well with his own major commitments. From all at the club, well done and thank you."

Warrenpoint Town F.C. Secretary, Jack Gilsenan said, "I would personally like to thank Connaire for his 4 years as Chairman of the club. In the summer of 2017, I was approached to become club Secretary and I thank Connaire for this getting me involved in such a fantastic club, something I have learnt so much from.

The club has definitely grown under his leadership and although not stepping away from the club, I look forward to continuing working with Connaire as part of a re-developed structure at the club."

Connaire will remain as a director, sponsor, and contributor to the club. In the interim period, Vice-Chairman Johnny Bird will become acting Chairman.
