Lough 41 Championship club Dundela have appointed the experienced Niall Currie as their new manager.

Currie moves into the Wilgar Park hotseat to replace Colin Nixon who parted ways with the Duns at the weekend following a poor start to the season that has left the East Belfast outfit languishing at the foot of the table with only one point from their seven outings to date.

The 49-year-old was most recently in charge of Carrick Rangers but left at the end of last season. Prior to that he managed hometown club Portadown, Ards and Loughgall.

He begins his tenure on Tuesday night with a home BetMcLean League Cup tie against Ballinamallard United before beginning the task of turning around the club's fortunes in the Championship when Annagh United visit.
