Philip Donnelly is March’s Championship Player of the Month.

It’s the second time the Newry City man has won the prestigious award. He last won it as an Armagh City player in August 2016.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s top two clash between Newry and title rivals Annagh United, Donnelly said: “It’s an honour to win this award again, after so long. I’d like to thank the Football Writers’ for picking me.

“We’ve enjoyed a great season at Newry, but we have not won anything yet. We have a massive game against Annagh on Saturday. If we can win, it will go a long way to securing promotion. If not, it’s all to play for.”

In March, the attacking midfielder helped City to wins over Knockbreda, Ards and Ballyclare Comrades.
