Dollingstown, Lisburn Distillery and Banbridge Town kicked the new season off on the right note with BetMcLean Cup preliminary round victories.

The Dollybirds were pitted against NIFL new boys Ballymacash Rangers at Planter's Park, but came from behind to secure their place in the next round.

Chris Ferguson fired Cash in front inside the first ten minutes, a lead they held until just before the hour mark when Daniel Gordon levelled for the home side.

Liam Toman then edged Dollingstown ahead as the game progressed - and they had keeper Gareth Buchanan to thank for keeping them in front with a penalty save in the closing minutes.

A late winner helped Lisburn Distillery defeat PSNI at New Grosvenor Stadium.

Jourdan Shearer bagged the goal that saw the Whites' progress to the next round with five minutes remaining.

Carson Elliott had opened the scoring after a quarter-of-an-hour but the visitors levelled a short time later through Henry Capper while skipper Tony Tumelty missed from the spot eight minutes after that.

And Banbridge Town progressed at Tobermore United's expense at Fortwilliam Park.

Stephen McCavitt opened the scoring for the visitors midway through the first half but McIlhatton levelled for United around the hour mark.

However, two goals in quick succession later in the second half from Michael McCavitt and Conor Downey secured the win for Frankie Wilson's side.

The preliminary round concludes on Tuesday evening when Moyola Park welcome Portstewart to Mill Meadow, kick-off 7:45pm.
