Glentoran have unveiled their first signing of the summer in the shape of Scottish striker Ally Roy who arrives on a two-year contract.

The 25-year-old spent last season with SPFL Championship side Queen of the South, knocking home 12 goals in almost 40 appearances across all competitions although he couldn't prevent the Doonhammers from suffering relegation at the end of the campaign.

The former Northern Ireland U21 international has also had spells with Derry City, Partick Thistle and Airdrie earlier in his career.

Glentoran boss Mick McDermott spoke of his new acquisition to the official club site: "Ally is a player we have been tracking since last season; the opportunity to sign him became a reality in the last few weeks and we acted quickly to bring him to Glentoran.

"We know there were offers from other fulltime clubs in our league and from Scotland. We are happy that Ally has chosen Glentoran as his home for the next two seasons.

"He has the ability to play centrally or in wider areas - his pace and directness are qualities that we know will make an impact in our league. We look forward to seeing him in our pre-season fixtures in the coming weeks."
