SIX NAMED IN UNDER-21 SQUAD

The Danske Bank Premiership has been well represented in the latest Northern Ireland U21 squad released this afternoon.

No fewer than six players across five clubs have been named by boss John Schofield for the forthcoming UEFA European Championship qualifiers with

Champions Linfield have two players called up, namely keeper David Walsh and striker Chris McKee who this week agreed a new permanent two-year contract with the Blues following the conclusion of his loan spell from Rangers.

Larne's Kofi Balmer is the sole domestic based defender in the squad while, in midfield, there are places for Dungannon Swifts' Terry Devlin and Cliftonville's Calvin McCurry who had spent the season on loan to Ards in the Championship.

And completing the sextet is John McGovern from newly promoted Newry City.

Local fans can see the side in action on Friday afternoon when Northern Ireland host Spain at Inver Park (kick-off 1pm), with the game away to Lithuania taking place on Tuesday.
