The Danske Bank Women’s Premiership continues this week as we enter gameweek four of the 2022 campaign.

The league now has eight teams, with Mid Ulster and Lisburn joining Glentoran, Cliftonville, Crusaders, Linfield, Derry City and Sion Swifts in the top-flight.

Each team will play the other seven sides twice, home and away, before the league splits into a top four and bottom four – with each team playing other sides in their half two more times, meaning that each team plays 20 league matches.

There will also be a mid-season break of Premiership fixtures between 1 June and 1 August, to allow for the Northern Ireland side’s participation in the European Championships.

Cliftonville and Glentoran lead the early table on nine points each, with Sion on six points and Crusaders and Linfield both on four, Lisburn and Derry City both on a point apiece with Mid Ulster yet to get off the mark.

There are no shortage of exciting matches this week as the Crues travel to Glentoran and Linfield hosting Sion Swifts among the main games.

All games take place on Wednesday evening at 7.45pm, with Lisburn vs Cliftonville getting underway at 8pm.

Glentoran Women v Crusaders Strikers (venue: Ashfield High School, kick-off: 7.45pm)

Glentoran have won the last seven meetings between these two sides but the games are typically close – with just one game being decided by a margin greater than two goals.

The Glens have got off to a perfect league start with three wins from three while the Crues have been held by Linfield and lost 4-1 at Cliftonville last time out.

Linfield Ladies v Sion Swifts Ladies (venue: Midgley Park, kick-off: 7.45pm)

Linfield will be looking to bounce back from disappointingly conceding a late equaliser at Crusaders a fortnight ago before a 7-1 loss at Glentoran last time out.

After a four-goal opening defeat against Cliftonville, Sion have bounced back with two comprehensive victories over newly promoted duo Lisburn and Mid Ulster so go into this game as the form side.

Sion have won each of the last three meetings between the two teams, including most recently – a 4-3 victory at this venue in September last year.

Mid Ulster Ladies v Derry City Women (venue: Mid Ulster Sports Arena, kick-off: 7.45pm)

Mid Ulster are the only side yet to pick up a point this campaign but they will leapfrog Derry City with a win here.

After opening defeats against Crusaders and Cliftonville, Derry held on for a point at home to Lisburn last time out with goalkeeper Clare Friel saving a late penalty.

This is the first ever meeting between the two sides in the Irish Premiership.

Lisburn Ladies v Cliftonville Ladies (venue: Bluebell Stadium, kick-off: 8pm)

Lisburn are off the mark in terms of points after last week’s draw at the Brandywell but will face an uphill task in this one against in-form Cliftonville.

The title hopefuls won 4-1 against Crusaders last time out to build on wins over Sion Swifts and Derry City, and will look to maintain their 100 percent winning start to their league campaign here.
