TWO FIRST HALF GOALS KEEP COMRADES ON TOP

League leaders Ballyclare Comrades held onto their three point lead with victory over Limavady United at Dixon Park.

The first goal of the game came in the 33rd minute, when a long ball down the middle was latched on to by Stewart Nixon, who had outstripped the Limavady defence. The young striker then calmly lofted the ball over the advancing 'keeper to find the net from 16 yards.

Five minutes later the home side doubled their lead. Thomas Robinson played a dangerous low ball in from the right side of the box, which broke to Samuel McIlveen, who made no mistake, driving into the back of the net from 12 yards.

The home side seemed to be seeing the game out fairly comfortably in the second half, but in the 76th minute they conceded a penalty, when Adam McCart was adjudged to have made a foul in the box. Robbie Hume stepped up to comfortably convert from the spot.
