WELDERS GRAB LATE POINT AT THE SHOWGROUNDS

Newry came closest to breaking the deadlock in the scoreless first half on 35 minutes when Stephen Hughes controlled a poor clearance on the edge of the box before clipping the outside of an upright with Welders 'keeper Robert Robinson stranded.

However, City did eventually move in front on 70 minutes thanks to Jimmy Walker who finished well after Declan Carville had knocked on Keith Johnston's cross.

But the Welders left with a point when, in stoppage time, William Armstrong's cross cannoned off defender Marcus McKeown and past 'keeper Steven Maguire.
