A Cathair Friel hat-trick helped Limavady United hit five past Wakehurst at Mill Meadow.

He opened the scoring after ten minutes with a bullet header from a Paul Owens corner from the right.

That was how it stayed until Wakehurst levelled six minutes into the second half when Jake Armstrong smashed the ball in off the far post.

Blain Morrison restored Limavady's lead on 72 minutes when he was on hand to stab home a rebound as the home defence failed to clear a Gareth Tommons' shot.

United visibly grew in confidence, and Friel shot straight at Macauley Cairns when though on goal, but he got his second from the penalty spot on 76 minutes, when Karl Steele was penalised for handball.

Friel got his hat trick on 81 minutes whenhe fired the ball low across the 'keeper and into the net for a goal of exceptional quality.

Shane Jennings completed the scoring in injury time when he was on the end of a free flowing move which finished when he slammed the ball home from close range.
