Newington replaced Limavady United in third spot in the Lough 41 Premier Intermediate League thanks to a two-goal defeat of the Roesiders at Solitude.
Scoreless for 75 minutes, the deadlock was eventually broken by Gary Warwick before, a couple of minutes from time, Matthew Gorman made sure of the points for the Swans.
Newington are next in action on Friday night when they travel to Castledawson to face Moyola Park while United host Dollingstown the following afternoon.
